About Lakeside Landscapes
A brief introduction to myself (David Fowler-Simons) and Lakeside Landscapes UK.
After my apprenticeship with Nuneaton Council and studying at Moreton Morrell College
I started Lakeside Landscapes in 1980 with just a few small contracts and one van. I ran the business along side my council
job where I was in charge of golf courses and ornamental grass areas.
In 1987 a chance meeting with an old friend took place at Wembley watching Coventry City win the FA cup.
He told me that he had just bought a country club with 25 acres of ground, gardens and landscaped areas which led me to employ 2
employees and myself. During this time I was employed by Mortoen Morrall as a horticulture tutor.
Over the years the company has expanded enabling me to use local students through Coventry Careers Services which
has enabled them to go on and run their own businesses which I use as contractors if needed. My son (Gareth Fowler-Simons) has also been trained at Morten Morrall and project managed all
of the landscapes and grounds maintenance projects. My daughter (Stephanie Fowler-Simons) is our company sectary
managing the daily office duties and helping with the business paperwork.
Lakeside Landscapes have many large contracts including schools and sports clubs such as King Henry The VIII, Old Coventraian RFC, Earlsdon RFC and Westwood United. Some examples of grounds maintenance
customers include Bishop of Coventry and Unite Student Living for Coventry University.
